Attention to Detail

I snuck out of my job early to dress for an interview. The position was one for which I was well qualified, a technical editing job. I dressed in my sharp new pinstripe suit in a room with no mirror and confidently went to land the dream job. "Would you say your attention to detail is a strong point?" the lead editor asked me in the interview. "Yes, of course," I answered smartly. I left feeling I had this position "in the bag." When I got home, my husband said to me, "How did it go?" and then, "Is that how you went? Look down." I realized I had buttoned the jacket wrong. I guess I did not appear to have enough attention to detail to land that job.
